A
two beat snare kicks off Things
That Might Have Been, the opening track on Welcome To The World by David Hershey-Webb. Jon Posette – Dart is on
slide- guitar – joining John Troy as one of two original members of the
Pousette Dart Band forming part of a superb cast of supporting musicians which
also includes the legendary Jay Dee Maness ( Sweetheart of the Rodeo) on Pedal
Steel and Lorenza Ponce, ( Bon Jovi ,
Sheryl Crow ) on violin. The Pousette-Dart Band actually recorded a song in
the early 70’s written by the then 13 year old Hershey-Webb.
David’s clear throated vocals anchor the band throughout.
The skillful laid back harmonies perfectly season the roots and Americana ethos
and seep through like the aroma from a slowly cooked soup.
The heavenly pedal steel appropriately works it’s way
through the metaphorical White
Church.
Hole
in my Heart features a brass chart ready for the contemporary AM
radio of an alternate pop universe.
Someone
to Love recalls the relaxed confident looseness of the best CSN
harmonies and Murder and
Love (written in an actual
haunted house ) frames the protagonist as the archetypal American loner.
The ashes
taken to the river with wishes
have returned and the listener is engaged in this compelling human alchemy. The
circle is formed and will not be broken.
